Poskom Co., Ltd., a Paju-based manufacturer of X-ray generators and imaging systems led by CEO Park Jong-rae, has grown into a solid export-oriented company with strong R&D capabilities and support from the Gyeonggi Northern Branch of the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME).
The company invests more than 20% of its workforce and over 10% of annual sales in research and development, successfully developing portable X-ray systems with proprietary technology.
Its products are now exported not only across Asia but also to advanced medical device markets in the United States and Europe.
In 2008, while accelerating new product development, Poskom faced a liquidity crisis due to heavy R&D spending.
Through KOSME’s corporate diagnostics program, along with KRW 500 million in working capital support and expert consulting, the company overcame the crisis and successfully commercialized new products.
This led to export expansion and partnerships with Japanese firms, enabling Poskom to enter the industrial X-ray system market.
More recently, Poskom underwent a second corporate diagnosis to enhance export stability and improve cost efficiency.
Today, the company exports portable X-ray systems for human and veterinary use, dental X-ray units, and power supply devices, and plans to commercialize industrial X-ray systems as a key growth product.
