Demand for portable X-ray devices has surged due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, particularly because they allow symptomatic patients to be examined outdoors without entering indoor facilities. 

Poskom, the world’s first company to develop a battery-powered portable X-ray, has expanded exports to the U.S., Europe, and Latin America since March.

Founded in 1997, Poskom initially produced power supply units and accumulated technical expertise through collaboration with Japanese X-ray company Akoma.

Later, Poskom acquired Akoma’s patents and technology to develop battery-operated, cable-free portable X-ray devices. 

The devices are used by veterinarians, archaeologists, and other professionals, and have also been developed for human use, leading Poskom to rank first in the U.S. portable X-ray market.

Poskom’s X-ray devices weigh just 5kg while providing high-quality imaging. 

They use Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to allow medical staff to easily view images, and their low radiation dose minimizes exposure to surrounding people.

With the growth of telemedicine, demand is expected to increase further.

Poskom plans to continue upgrading its devices, including smartphone integration, to eventually replace traditional X-ray equipment globally.
